Our whole selves

An asian american youth discipleship resource

Asian American Christian Collaborative (AACC) is proud to present our youth curriculum, “Our Whole Selves.” This curriculum is a free resource to help guide youth and youth leaders to explore the intersection of their faith and their Asian American identity.

This resource tackles issues of culture, racial identity, Asian American history, generational differences, and more. At the same time, it prompts its users to ask theological questions about how Asian American identity and Asian American history impact our understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus as Asian American Christians living in a racialized society.

Adolescence is a time when many young people explore their identities. This curriculum says to young people: “You don’t have to sacrifice your Asian American identity to be a Christian or your Christianity to be an Asian American.” Rather, Christ makes it possible to live fully as both an Asian American and as a Christian. In other words, we can come to Christ with “our whole selves” and live fully as who God created us to be.

We hope that this resource is helpful to youth who may be wrestling with their identity as Asian American Christians and equips them to become the next generation of Asian American Christian leaders that God has called them to be.

How to Find a Mentor

Also in collaboration with TENx10 (a collaborative youth discipleship initiative seeking to help faith matter more for 10 million youth over the next 10 years), AACC created an insightful video resource to address a common challenge faced by many in youth ministry: finding a mentor.

With a focus on practicality, this video offers actionable insights for anyone seeking mentorship, regardless of their background. This resource places a strong emphasis on the art of asking the right questions to identify the mentor who best suits your needs. What distinguishes this resource is its dedicated focus on addressing the distinctive challenges encountered within immigrant church contexts.

The accompanying PDF allows you to deepen your engagement alongside the video and provides the needed questions as you consider choosing a mentor. It is a valuable tool for all youth ministry leaders, with its faith-centered approach reminding you that God is your ultimate guide.

Finding You: 8-Week Teen Bible Study Guide

The Finding You: 8-Week Teen Bible Study Guide is a resource for youth ranging from 6th-12th grade to embark on a transformative journey to discovering faith and identity.

This workbook is a supplement to the book Finding God, Finding Me by Izzy Koo and provides a relatable, practical, and authentic resource for youth ministries, small groups, and individual study. Tried, true, and tested, this guide pushes teens to consider why they believe, challenges them to live out their faith in the world, and inspires them to find who they are and, most importantly, whose they are.

Created by a college student who understands firsthand the struggles and questions youth are facing, this resource will relate to young people in a refreshingly personal way. It is filled with questions to discuss and fun activities to engage in, and most importantly, it provides a pragmatic way for youth to gather together with a purpose. This study is designed to be led by a leader. However, this easy-to-follow workbook makes it simple for ministry leaders as well as college students, young adults, parents, and even older youth to lead their younger peers.
